Natural Hazards Planning

Planning for climate change, particularly in the coastal areas of New Zealand, has become a key focus for many local authorities around New Zealand. Since 2014, we have been working alongside district and regional councils and their communities to develop strategies for managing change in the coastal environment. Freshwater

We have extensive experience in developing and facilitating stakeholder engagement processes associated with freshwater policy, preparation of resource consent applications for freshwater use and for discharges to land and water. Our work in this space has been recognised by the Chapman Tripp Project Award from the Resource Management Law Association for “Developing an approach in the reconsenting of the Ohakune, Raetihi and National Park Wastewater Treatment Plants that was culturally inclusive, collaborative and technically feasible and effective.”

Resource Consents

Whether you require resource consent for a residential dwelling, industrial or commercial development, or upgrading/renewing a Council asset, we can manage the consenting process for you. We can assist you from pre-application consultation and design, through the preparation of consent documents (including the management of expert input, consultation processes, and representation at hearings), and implementation of consent requirements.

We understand that engaging with the right people, at the right time, and in the right way, is essential to achieving positive outcomes. Our team have a wealth of expertise in identifying key groups and individuals, developing meaningful engagement strategies and facilitating public engagement processes.

Policy Development

Writing, interpreting and analysing policy is what we do. We have built our experience working with local and central government policy teams in New Zealand and internationally.
